1. Insert the Windows 7 installation disc or the bootable USB drive into your computer.
2. Restart your computer.
3. As your computer restarts, press the appropriate key (such as F12 or Esc) to access the boot menu. The key may vary depending on your computer's manufacturer. Look for a message on the screen during startup that indicates the key to access the boot menu.
4. In the boot menu, select the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive or the USB drive, depending on your installation media.
5. Windows 7 will start loading files and display the "Install Windows" screen.
6. Choose your language preferences and click "Next."
7. On the next screen, click "Install Now."
8. Read and accept the license terms, and then click "Next."
9. On the installation type screen, select the option that says "Custom (advanced)."
10. You will see a list of available hard drive partitions. Select the partition you want to format and click "Drive options (advanced)."
11. In the options that appear, click on "Format" to format the selected partition.
12. A warning message will appear, informing you that formatting will erase all data on the partition. Confirm that you have backed up your data and click "OK."
13. After formatting, you can select the formatted partition and click "Next" to continue with the installation process.
14. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of Windows 7.
