1. Launch Disk Utility: You can find Disk Utility in the Applications folder, under the Utilities subfolder. You can also use Spotlight search by pressing Command + Spacebar, typing "Disk Utility," and hitting Enter.
2. Select the disk: In the Disk Utility window, you will see a list of available disks and volumes on the left-hand side. Select the disk that you want to partition from the list.
3. Choose the partition scheme: Click on the "Partition" tab at the top of the Disk Utility window. Here, you will see a graphical representation of your current disk configuration. Under the Partition Layout section, choose the number of partitions you want to create by clicking on the "+" or "-" buttons.
4. Configure the partition: Select the newly created partition in the graphical representation and configure its size by dragging the resize handle or entering the desired size in the Size field. You can also set a name and format for the partition.
5. Apply the changes: Once you have configured the partition to your liking, click on the "Apply" button in the bottom-right corner of the Disk Utility window. A confirmation dialog will appear, warning you that partitioning will erase all data on the selected disk. Make sure you have a backup of any important data before proceeding. Click on "Partition" to confirm and start the partitioning process.
6. Wait for the process to complete: Disk Utility will start creating the partition(s) based on your configuration. The time required depends on the size of the disk and the partition(s) you are creating. Once the process is finished, you will see the newly created partition(s) listed in the Disk Utility window.
